Often PMI exam aspirants are overwhelmed with loads of information from all around. Steps below summarizes simple steps for your PMI certification.
Step #1 : Create a free account at www.pmi.org. Start looking around in the website. Initiate the application form but do not submit it yet until you have completed all of the steps below. Initiating application on day 1 is only to get yourself motivated. In my experience, I know people who “wish to” and “talk about” taking PMP® exam for 5-10 years but they won’t , most likely because of this step #1. So get started today.
Step #2: Document 35 hours of formal Project Management Training. If you do not have this already, enroll in a course . Fee ranges from $50 to $5000 depending on mode (online/classroom) and the provider.
Step #3 : Document 4500 hours of Project Management experience in IPEMCC format. In other words, for each project, you will need to document your time across Project Management phases , namely , Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Controlling and Close. It is okay if you have not worked across all the phases.
Step #4 : File an online application with pmi.org
Step #5 : Wait for approval on your application. It generally takes 10-30 days.
Step #6 : Once approved , you will need to register yourself for the exam with a prometric center. You can generally do this within 1 year of approval.
